To secure Golden Cove for your wedding for your special day a minimum booking of two (2) Villas for 5 days is required plus location fee. Maximum number of guests is 60 persons. With booking of all 4 villas the location fee is waived.

Legal Requirements

The documentation process can be a confusing and complicated one, but with our team, the process is made simple and as stress-free as possible. Remember that each destination is unique and so the requirements will vary slightly from country to country, sometimes changing with very little notice.

As per the requirements of the Registrar General’s Department, Golden Cove will need the following documents from the wedding couple:

  • Proof of citizenship: notarized copy of state issued or Jamaican birth certificates
  • Notarized copy of legal name changes or legal adoption papers (if applicable)
  • 2 types of valid identification from each person (National I.D., Drivers License or Passport)
  • Certified copy of all pages of the final divorce papers or Certificate of Divorce (if applicable)
  • Notarized copy of state issued or local death certificate of deceased spouse (if applicable)
  • Occupation of both
  • Legal translation of documents to English where originals are in another language.

Please note that anyone wishing to get married in Jamaica, must be at least 18 years of age and must be on the island a minimum of 48 hours prior to the wedding.

Please do not supply original documents as they will not be returned; they are kept by the Jamaican Government. The documents should be sent at least 60 DAYS prior to the arrival date. If you send the documentation within 60 days, there will be a US $100.00 late fee.

Q?Who performs the ceremony at your resort?

Golden Cove Resort offers a Non-Denominational Minister/Marriage Officer according to wedding package.

Q?What do you do if I schedule an outdoor ceremony and reception — and it rains?

Golden Cove Resort provides indoor alternate spaces such as our raised 90’x40’ tent or gazebo in the event of rain.

Q?What is the difference between legal (civil), religious and symbolic ceremonies?

A legal ceremony is a non-religious legal marriage ceremony performed by a government official. A religious ceremony is underscored by religious meaning. A symbolic ceremony not legally binding and so no official paperwork is issued.

Q?What private indoor and outdoor areas of the resort are available for a wedding?

For outdoor, we offer our garden and gazebo location overlooking the sea and for indoors, we offer a 90’x40 foot raised tent that is decorated. The location is chosen at the time of your on-resort consultation.

Q?Will there be other weddings taking place during the same time as ours?

This is unlikely, but where it happens, your privacy is guaranteed.

Q?Do you have set up times for the weddings to occur?

Golden Cove Resort does not have set times for weddings; however Jamaican law stipulates that weddings must be performed between 6:00am and 8:00pm. The specific time will be chosen during on-property consultation.

Q?Can we supply our own music on CD?

Yes, you may take along your personal music CD.

Q?Do you provide photography/videography services?

We do offer photography services, however videography is only offered in our packages of 30-50 persons upward.

Q?Can you arrange a special tour or activity for our guests?

Q?Do wedding guests not staying at the resort have to pay to gain access to the property?

Golden Cove Resort will freely admit off property guests whose names have been provided prior to the ceremony, an hour before commencement to 11:00pm.

Q?Will my guests have to pay for parking?

No, there is no parking fee for guests at Golden Cove Resort.

Q?What kind of spa packages can you offer for the wedding party?

Golden Cove Resort will provide therapeutic massage services as requested and we invite you to discuss same during on-property consultations.

Q?How can we confirm our wedding date?

Your wedding is confirmed once you have booked and paid for your accommodation along with a location fee of US$1000.00.

Q?How much time in advance would we need to reserve our wedding?

Your wedding should be reserved at least 3 months in advance.

Q?How many days do we need to arrive prior to the ceremony?

You must be on the island a minimum of 48 hours prior to the wedding.

A copy of your original marriage certificate is all that is needed.

Q?Is there a dedicated wedding planner on site?

Yes, we provide an onsite wedding coordinator.
